Tiësto has canceled a show in Caracas scheduled for next month because of the political upheaval currently shaking Venezuela. The Dutch DJ told the Associated Press that he is calling off the gig because “it’s no time to party.”

Tiësto said that he would reschedule the show, originally slated for April 4th at the Metropolitan University, as soon as possible and noted that he has always played great shows in Venezuela.

Venezuela has been in crisis since early February as the government of Nicolás Maduro has responded with massive military force to demonstrations across the country. Civilians have been imprisoned in military compounds, and protesters have been killed by paramilitary groups. The Italian singer Jovanotti also announced earlier this week that he was canceling a Caracas concert over safety concerns.

Tiësto was forced to cancel a gig for entirely different reasons last weekend after smashing his head against a giant LCD screen as he tried to take the stage at San Diego’s SAP Center. According to the Guardian, he passed out and was diagnosed with a concussion, though he recovered enough to play the Ultra Music Festival in Miami on Friday night.
