Ticket Refunds For Jackson’s “This Is It!” Concerts To Begin July 1st

Starting July 1st, AEG Live will begin refunding the more than 750,000 concert tickets to Michael Jackson’s This Is It! run of 50 shows at London’s O2 Arena, the concert promoter announced today. According to Billboard.com, the refunds will include the service fees. By visiting the MichaelJacksonLive website on July 1st, ticket buyers will be routed to Viagogo, Ticketmaster or other authorized sellers in order to claim their refund.

“The world lost a kind soul who just happened to be the greatest entertainer the world has ever known,” AEG Live CEO Randy Phillips said in a statement. “Since he loved his fans in life, it is incumbent upon us to treat them with the same reverence and respect after his death.” AEG Live sold a reported $85 million in tickets for the This Is It! shows, selling out the O2 Arena for an unprecedented 50 consecutive concerts.

Additionally, fans are given a choice of receiving their tickets as a commemorative item instead of a full refund, Billboard.com writes. The ticket was designed by Jackson himself and printed with the lenticular process. Fans have until August 14th to accept the commemorative offer. Unfortunately for fans who might have paid over ticket price for a chance to see Jackson, the ticket refund does not cover fans who bought tickets via non-authorized secondary ticket sellers.
