Thurston Moore is best known for his dissonant, artfully noisy music with Sonic Youth, but in this appearance on last night's episode of Late Show with David Letterman, the guitarist showcased his softer side with "Benediction," a number from his new Beck-produced solo album Demolished Thoughts. The all-acoustic love ballad was filled out with light percussion, gently plucked harp and swelling violin. It's a different sound for Moore, but it suits his melodic sensibility very well.
