This Week on #RSFans: Memes, Show Posters, Space Rock, Record Store Day and More

This week on #RSFans, we’re looking for some answers – and we know you have them:
Even though it seems like going digital is the way for everything in music these days, the art of the awesome show poster lives on. Do you have a framed poster that you’re particularly fond of? Did you snap a pic on the street of iconic show art? Send us your photos of your favorite show posters using #RSFans!
And now we turn to a digital-only form of entertainment: memes and viral videos. Tay Zonday’s “Chocolate Rain” was uploaded five years ago this week, and proved the power of the weird on the World Wide Web. We want to know: what’s your favorite music-related meme or viral nugget? Tweet your answers to #RSFans.
The band Spiritualized, led by Justin Pierce a.k.a. J. Spaceman, formed 20 years ago in England and became the torch bearers of the “space rock” genre. Their seventh record, Sweet Heart Sweet Light, is out this Tuesday, which made us wonder: what is your favorite space rock song? Use #RSFans to share it.
This Thursday and Friday, ?uestlove is taking over the Brooklyn Academy of Music with Shuffle Culture, a night of music in the form of a “free-flowing playlist” which will feature artists like Deerhoof, Rahzel, Reggie Watts, and conductor Andrew Cyr. If you’re there, let us know how this unique event is going using the #RSFans hashtag.
This Friday (fittingly April 20th) Marley, a comprehensive documentary on reggae legend Bob Marley is getting released. With so many great music-themed documentaries out there, we wonder: what’s your favorite?
Finally, this Saturday is Record Store Day, an international event that sees shops across the world selling rare releases and celebrating the remaining brick and mortar record stores. We want to see where you’re going, what you’re buying, and what you’re thinking this Record Store Day. Get at us with the #RSFans hashtag.
