Fans of The Voice surely remember last season’s Team Adam powerhouse, Kat Perkins. The rock ‘n’ roll nanny took on massive songs like Heart’s “Magic Man” and “Barracuda,” Sia’s “Chandelier,” and Frozen‘s “Let It Go” with ease, and she even broke the “Instant Save curse,” surviving against the odds to make it to the top five. Now she’s releasing her first song and video, “Fearless,” and Yahoo Music’s Reality Rocks has the exclusive premiere.
“I couldn’t imagine a more perfect single coming off of The Voice,” Kat tells Yahoo. “My musical journey has seen both ends of the spectrum over the past 15 years. From stadium shows, to vocal surgery, to The Voice, and now a top five iTunes single with a response unlike anything I’ve ever imagined.
“In my career there have been some serious highs and serious lows, and I told myself that, given the opportunity, I wouldn’t let another moment pass without doing all I can to impact others. And to me, this song did exactly that. ‘What would you do if you weren’t afraid?’ That’s the message, and I hope it impacts others’ lives as much as it’s impacted mine.”
As for the inspiration behind the video, Kat says: “I wanted something raw, something real, and something that showed my journey. The clips are all various parts of my life. You’ll notice that many of them include my family, who have been with me every step of the way. It’s because of them I have a love of music, have pursued my passion, and had the courage to be fearless throughout.”
