The performance will track the evolution of the league from the Fifties to the present and feature Hamilton star Daveed Diggs, actor Michael B. Jordan, Jidenna, Run-D.M.C.‘s Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and DJ Jazzy Jeff. The Roots and Co. will stage The Evolution of Greatness before the All-Star Game, which tips off February 19th at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
The NBA All-Star Game will also feature late-night TV’s other bandleader, Jon Batiste of the The Late Show, who will perform the National Anthem, while jazz-pop singer Nikki Yanofsky will sing the Canadian national anthem. John Legend will headline the halftime show.
Meanwhile, All-Star Saturday Night – the pre-game event featuring the dunk contest and three-point shootout – will feature performances from DNCE and DJ Khaled. That event begins February 18th at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
