The Flaming Lips Channel Dystopia in ‘Wolf Children’ – Song Premiere

For a band as out-of-this-world as the Flaming Lips, it’s no surprise that they would find inspiration in the beloved space epic Ender’s Game. The film adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s book will open on November 1st, and to coincide, the psych-rockers will digitally release a new six-track EP on October 29th. You can pre-order Peace Sword on iTunes now (its title track was penned for the film), and a limited-edition vinyl of the EP will also be released on November 29th as part of Record Store Day’s Black Friday event. The EP’s other five cuts were also inspired by Card’s book.
Where Does the Flaming Lips’ ‘Do You Realize??’ Rank on Our 100 Best Songs of the 2000s List?
Now you can take an exclusive first listen to “Wolf Children,” an appropriately wonky cut and one perhaps inspired by the scene where Ender finds himself being attacked by a group of children who’ve turned into wolves. The track bursts with spiraling synths and frontman Wayne Coyne’s eerie vocals atop the song’s dystopic din.
