The-Dream has turned himself into the NYPD on felony charges of assault and strangulation after allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend, Lydia Nam. The R&B producer and singer, whose real name is Terius Nash, had been wanted for questioning in connection with the alleged assault, which Nam reported in April 2013, according to TMZ. In addition to the charges above, he was booked this morning for three misdemeanors – assault, acting in a manner injurious to a child and reckless endangerment – an NYPD rep confirmed to Rolling Stone. It is currently unknown when he will stand before a judge.

“Dream voluntarily surrendered to the Midtown North Precinct this morning in order to responsibly address the false allegations filed against him by Lydia Nam,” a rep for the producer said in a statement. “He is innocent of the charges filed against him today, and we are confident that when this case is concluded and all the evidence has been reviewed, it will be clear that he is innocent.”

The alleged assault reportedly took place at New York’s Plaza Hotel three months before the birth of their son. Nam waited until November to file a police report for undisclosed reasons.

The-Dream previously denied the allegations, and sources close to him told TMZ that he thought the Canadian-born Nam was hoping to use the accusation as a way to extend her visa. The gossip site reported that Dream was arrested in connection with a separate domestic-violence incident involving Nam last June in California, but the D.A. rejected the case after Nam refused to press charges.
