The Black Keys Reach deep in their catalog at Bonnaroo

Before The Black Keys took the Bonnaroo stage at 8:00 PM on Saturday night, a man who introduced himself as festival founder “Ken Bonnaroo” (but was actually Aziz Ansari) addressed the crowd. “I just caught a secret solo acoustic Third Eye Blind show in a Porto-Potty,” he said. “I’m excited about the band you’re about to see – The Black Eyed Peas! Hold on a second, The Black Eyed Peas were in a horrible hot air balloon concert caused by Taboo. I think we’re going to get someone else instead.” With that, The Black Keys took the stage and opened up with a blistering rendition of their 2003 track “Thickfreakness” – which you can watch a clip of in the above video. Our cameras also caught “Girl Is On My Mind” from 2004’s Rubber Factory. They closed out their set with a cover of the Kinks deep cut “Act Nice And Gentle.” Out of respect for Buffalo Springfield – who were about to begin their set at another stage – they held off on doing any encores.
