“The Beatles: Rock Band” Footage Premieres During McCartney’s Coachella Set

Festival-goers at Coachella this weekend weren’t only treated to Paul McCartney’s hits-filled headlining set Friday night; they also unknowingly witnessed the debut of footage from the upcoming The Beatles: Rock Band game, due out September 9th. According to MTV’s Video Games blog, the footage looked like the standard background performances you’d come to expect from the franchise, except with the members of the Beatles playing their vintage guitars and dressed in the clothing of the time.

While the footage lacked the scrolling notes and top-screen lyrics that accompany the games, MTV reports that Paul McCartney’s Website confirmed that the Coachella performance did in fact feature the debut of The Beatles: Rock Band footage. “It was a night of firsts and was the unexpected, unannounced world premiere of the images from the coming Beatle Rock Band game which played on vast screens throughout ‘Got To Get You Into My Life,’ ” Macca’s official site wrote in their report on the gig.

As Rock Daily reported last week, details about the instruments included in the game’s Limited Edition Bundle Package have been revealed. MTV Games and Harmonix also established a Pre-Order Club that will give gamers access to clips and other materials before street date. The Beatles: Rock Band will arrive in stores the same day the Fab Four’s entire remastered discography is released.
