Tegan and Sara Announce New Album ‘Love You to Death’

Tegan and Sara have announced that their new album Love You to Death, the follow-up to 2013’s Heartthrob, will arrive on June 3rd. After a week of dropping hints about their new album, the Canadian indie pop duo formally announced their eighth studio LP and unveiled the cover art Friday. The first single off Love You to Death arrives on April 8th, which is the same day pre-orders for the LP begin.

Love You to Death reunites the Quin twins with producer Greg Kurstin, who previously worked with Tegan and Sara on Heartthrob, one of Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Albums of 2013. In the years since Heartthrob, Tegan and Sara sang the Lonely Island’s Academy Award-nominated “Everything Is Awesome” from The Lego Movie, also performing the track at the 2015 Oscars. Sara Quin also appeared on Bleachers’ “Shadow.”

The Quin sisters also discussed the unique bond with their fans in an exclusive Rolling Stone documentary. As the film shows, following the release of Heartthrob, Tegan and Sara were thrust into the mainstream after sharing the stage with megastars like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.

“Our mainstream success created a vast valley between us and them,” Tegan told Rolling Stone, referring to the band’s fans. “As much as it might have made it seem like we were selling out, what we were really doing was stepping up and we were pushing our way in to a world that did not have anything representing us.”

The duo remained connected to their fan base by introducing a mailbox at shows where fans can leave the band notes and letters and reconnect.

Tegan and Sara have also announced their first three shows in support of Love You to Death. More dates will be announced soon.
