Taylor Swift‘s Christmas gift to fans – her concert film The 1989 World Tour LIVE – arrives exclusively on Apple Music on December 20th, and today the singer previewed the behind-the-scenes look at her trek by revealing all the planning and preparation that went into all those star-studded cameos, including Steven Tyler, Beck, Lorde, Selena Gomez and more.
“When I’ll have a sound check with a special guest artist, I’ll meet them on the stage, introduce them to everybody, the band. I’d walk the artist along the stage, I’d say ‘I think maybe we should go here at this point in the song, maybe we should do this at this point in the song,'” Swift said in the ABC News preview. “And we would just decide together what the performance should look like.”
Swift also revealed that she offered her musical guests the choice of what color they wanted the audience’s light-up bracelets to shine plus other logistics like their stage entrance and whether or not they want pyrotechnics involved. “I didn’t want them to come and donate their time and their energy to be on my stage and not have it feel like I cared enough to give them anything that made it feel huge. I just wanted us to go all out,” Swift said.
