Strokes, Au Revoir Simone Members Team for Spacey ‘With You Tonight’

The recently formed group Summer Moon, whose lineup includes members of the Strokes, Au Revoir Simone and the Like, has released an upbeat, spacey new song called “With You Tonight.” Trippy guitars echo and bounce off handclaps and keyboard strings as Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture sings about hiding and dancing with a lover. It’s a breezy tune that previously appeared as a “Blue Moon” remix in an ad spot for AG Jeans featuring model Alexa Chung.
The group made its debut with a Brooklyn gig in December at a benefit concert for the David Lynch Foundation. Summer Moon have played a handful of gigs this year, including one with Sean Lennon’s Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, and a couple of South by Southwest gigs in Austin this past March. Summer Moon have booked a gig at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on August 11th and New York’s Central Park for a Summer Stage appearance with Father John Misty and Angel Olsen on August 5th.
This past May, the band put out another new song – “Happenin’ (Blue Room Mix)” – with a video that featured 360-degree views of each member’s head. More upbeat than “With You Tonight,” that tune features bouncy percussion, purposely strident guitar noise and Fraiture’s feel-good lyrics about letting go. The group has also released a short clip of a danceable post-punk song called “Chemical Solution” that it recorded live in Brooklyn this past February, as part of its live trailer.
