St. Vincent ‘Cheerleader’ on ‘Conan’
Band mimics Costello's famous 'SNL' appearance on 'Conan'
Annie Clark of St. Vincent paid tribute to Elvis Costello on last night’s episode of Conan by spoofing his famous appearance on Saturday Night Live, in which he stopped “Less Than Zero” after a few measures and launched into “Radio, Radio.” In this performance, Clark starts off with a bit of “Radio, Radio” before quoting Costello – “I’m sorry, ladies and gentlemen, there’s no reason to play that song” – and kicking into “Cheerleader,” an anthemic highlight from her most recent album, Strange Mercy.
