Soundgarden have planned a performance of their five-times platinum album Superunknown in its entirety for the first time at the iTunes Festival during South by Southwest next month. Drummer Matt Cameron, who had previously said he would not be able to tour with Soundgarden in 2014 due to commitments to his other band, Pearl Jam, will be joining Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil and Ben Shepherd for the performance.

The concert, which will take at Austin, Texas’s Moody Theater on March 13th at 11 p.m. CST, will be streaming live on iTunes. As previously reported, the festival will also livestream performances by Coldplay, Pitbull, Keith Urban, Imagine Dragons, Zedd, Willie Nelson and London Grammar.

Where Does Soundgarden’s ‘Superunknown’ Rank Among the 100 Best Albums of the Nineties?

Soundgarden’s performance takes place just five days after the 20th anniversary of the release of Superunknown. The band are celebrating that milestone with deluxe, expanded, remastered reissues of the album that will hit stores on June 3rd. One version comes on two discs, with one dedicated to 16 demo recordings, B-sides and rehearsals, while another spans five discs and includes an even greater selection of those goodies plus a remaster of the album mixed in Blu-ray Audio 5.1 Surround Sound. That version also features a hardbound book with liner notes by Rolling Stone’s David Fricke, never-before-seen photos by Kevin Westerberg and “reimagined” artwork by Josh Graham. The group is also re-releasing the album on 200-gram vinyl.

Prior to those releases, the band has planned a special LP set for Record Store Day, April 19th. Superunknown: The Singles contains one 10-inch for each of the original LP’s five singles – “Spoonman,” “The Day I Tried to Live,” “Black Hole Sun,” “My Wave” and “Fell on Black Days” – and they feature all of the original B-sides that appeared on those singles.
