Soundgarden have announced a spring tour to surround their previously announced music festival appearances.
After playing a trio of Florida fests in late April, the grunge icons’ trek officially kicks off May 3rd in Atlanta, Georgia. Chris Cornell and company will bounce between standalone concerts and festival sets like Rock on the Range and Carolina Rebellion until the tour concludes May 27th with a gig at the Rocklahoma fest.
The Pretty Reckless and Dillinger Escape Plan will serve as opening acts on select dates.
A special ticket pre-sale for fan club members begins February 28th, with a general on-sale to follow on March 3rd. Check out Soundgarden’s site for complete details.
The tour will begin after the March 10th release of a remixed deluxe edition of the group’s debut LP Ultramega OK. The project, dubbed a long-awaited “correction,” marks the end of nearly two decades of frustration for the rock legends, as they were immediately unhappy with the original SST Records mix.
Soundgarden are also at work on the follow-up to 2012’s King Animal. In recent months, Cornell reunited with a pair of former supergroup projects, going on a brief tour with Temple of the Dog before a one-off reformation of Audioslave.
