Two People Stabbed During ‘Violent Altercation’ at Sony Music’s London Office

Two people were stabbed during an incident that occurred Friday at Sony Music’s London headquarters. The label’s offices on Derry Street were also evacuated “as a precaution” following the incident, BBC News reported.
“Sony Music confirmed there was an incident at Derry Street resulting in the building being evacuated,” Sony Music said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “Two members of the catering team were involved in a violent altercation. The incident is now in the hands of the Metropolitan Police.”
The Metropolitan Police added in a statement, “Two people have suffered stab injuries – their conditions are not life-threatening or life-changing. One person has been arrested. No evidence of any firearms involved in this incident. It is not being treated as terror-related.”
According to the Evening Standard, the stabbings occurred during a fight between two men in the building’s canteen.
“There was a lot of shouting and commotion. It looked like they were having a fight,” a witness told the Evening Standard. “One had fallen over and was on his back and the other was standing over him. I thought he was raining punches down, but then I saw the knife. It was about six or seven inches long, and he was standing over him trying to get him, stabbing downwards as the other man put his arms up to defend himself. He was going nuts. There was a lot of shouting.”
Employees eventually managed to pin the perpetrator down before police arrived on the scene. One stabbing victim was stretched from the building and sent to a nearby major trauma center and another victim was hospitalized, a spokeswoman for London Ambulance Service said.
The victims’ and suspect’s names were not released at press time.
This is a developing story.
