Southern California indie rock trio Three Mile Pilot, the reunited band that gave the world Pinback and the Black Heart Procession, went back to their roots for “Long Way Up,” the first single from their new EP, Maps.
“‘Long Way Up’ is about escaping your town,” says guitarist and vocalist Pall Jenkins. The single, recorded in the band’s studio last year after the release of 2010’s The Inevitable Past Is the Future Forgotten ended a 13-year hiatus, augments the trio’s signature bass grooves and synths with a percussive guitar riff that lifts the song to new heights.
Maps will be released on July 24th, but you can download “Long Way Up” for free here. The band has also announced a six-date tour in support of the EP’s release:
8/17 Los Angeles, CA – The Echo
8/18 San Francisco, CA – Bottom of the Hill
8/20 Seattle, WA – Tractor Tavern
8/21 Portland, OR – Doug Fir Lounge
8/24 Santa Ana, CA – Constellation Room
8/25 Solana Beach, CA – Belly Up Tavern
