Just because working five days a week on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon isn’t enough work, the Roots announced their seventh annual Roots Picnic, which will take place on the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia on May 31st. And because they’re workaholics, the hip-hop crew will be playing two sets: one of their own and one supporting Snoop Dogg. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon.

Where Did the Roots’ Collaboration With Elvis Costello, “Walk Us Uptown,” Rank Among the 100 Best Songs of 2013?

The Roots’ drummer Questlove announced the lineup with a Bob Dylan-esque cue-card video reveal, (viewable below), as he got his hair done. Other performers include Janelle Monáe, the War on Drugs, Action Bronson, A$AP Ferg, Rudimental, AraabMuzik a DJ set by one of David Byrne’s favorite rappers, Biz Markie, and more.

Since bidding adieu to their Late Night post to graduate to The Tonight Show, the Roots have already gotten high praise from some notable people. Not only did U2 ask the Roots to join in with them on their performance of “Ordinary Love,” but Bono called out Questlove during the song in the first episode of the new show. “Yesterday, I thought, ‘Maybe for the ending, we should let the Roots in for a little bit,'” U2 guitarist the Edge told Rolling Stone about the collaboration. “And when Bono asked them to come in, I could feel this thing – ‘Woah!’ – and Bono started to take off.”
