Snoop Dogg Solicits Love Stories From Reddit Users

Snoop Dogg has always been about spreading the love, and to celebrate Valentine’s Day, the rapper reached out to his fans on Reddit and asked users to share their “best love stories to ur loved ones or to ur love of tha trees!” Would you expect anything less?
The rapper also promised a video response in return where he’d highlight his favorite tale and took the time to plug a fundraising competition for his Snoop Youth Football League that puts donors in the running for a chance to be his intern for a day.
The Reddit responses are a slew of endearing stories sure to get you in the spirit for Valentine’s Day (and hopefully not bum you out – though it’s not like you won’t be without a date when Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright return on House of Cards this weekend).
One person recalled how he dropped his itinerant and partying ways after years of hitchhiking and working on farms across Canada for a girl. While a mistake put a damper on their relationship for a few years, a postcard several years later rekindled their relationship that’s now in its 18th year. Another man took a sucker punch to the face courtesy of his now-wife’s ex-boyfriend and they’ve been married for 10 years, while – on the slightly grosser, but still kinda cute spectrum – another couple has been together ever since one party drunkenly passed out and peed in the other person’s bed.
And then there’s this guy: “I once waited 3 hours in the rain just for a bag of the finest ganja in town. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.”
Perhaps the most enjoyable tale, though, was the one about the Pizza Hut employees who were allowed to go on a date thanks to a free sandwich: “Her mom came by to pick her up from Pizza Hut one day and jokingly she asked Liz to get me to give her a free Supremo sandwich. I went outside and introduced myself and shook her hand and told her that she could have a Supremo sandwich if she would let me take her daughter on a date. I took her to a haunted house and every time we went around a corner she would get so scared and huddle up against me. We have been together for five years, unfortunately the relationship between her mom and the sandwich didn’t last 15 minutes. We always laugh about how her mom traded her for a $7 sandwich.”
If those stories weren’t enough to get you in the mood, check out a Valentine’s Day playlist from Tegan and Sara’s Tegan Quinn featuring love tunes from St. Lucia, Bruce Springsteen and Alicia Keys. Movie critic Peter Travers also reviews Hollywood’s Valentine’s weekend movie offerings, though be warned it’s a whole lot of nothing – unless you want to see Will Smith as the devil in the atrocious Winter’s Tale.
