Sleigh Bells Proclaim Triumphant Return on Synth-Heavy New Track

Sleigh Bells swap fuzz-blasted guitars for glittering synths without skimping on the thunderous triumph on their new song, “Champions of Unrestricted Beauty.”
The Brooklyn duo self-released the cut on Monday, writing on Facebook, “We are finishing up our record, didn’t want to wait.”
“Champions of Unrestricted Beauty” boasts a bombastic vocal performance from Alexis Krauss, whose torrent of empowerment hits as hard as Derek Miller’s rat-a-tat percussion and deceptively delicate array of synths.
While “Champions of Unrestricted Beauty” marks a new musical turn for Sleigh Bells, the group did share an important note on Twitter for fans left pining for the group’s signature six-string wallop: “Guitar heads sit tight there’s plenty of that.”
“Champions of Unrestricted Beauty” marks Sleigh Bells’ first new song since “That Did It,” their 2014 collaboration with Chicago rapper-singer Tink. Aside from a few shows this year, however, the band has remained largely inactive as they continue to record the follow-up to their 2013 LP, Bitter Rivals.
