Slayer's brand of anarchist thrash-metal isn't generally an ideal companion for a family-friendly park – and law enforcement in Commack, New York seem to agree.

On Tuesday night, a building in the city's Wicks Park was vandalized with black graffiti featuring the word "Slayer" and the band's iconic pentagram logo. Police initially investigated the incident as a "hate crime," according to the Commack Patch, before officers recognized their mistake.
"Officials then realized the markings, which included a pentagram, were symbols from the band Slayer," reads the report. It's unclear whether the officers in question recognized the logo because they're secretly huge Slayer fans.
