Skrillex Reveals ‘Mothership’ U.S. Tour, Mysterious New App

Skrillex will be bringing his massive stage show to festivals and arenas this spring and summer, as the Los Angeles EDM producer/DJ will use this week’s South by Southwest Festival as a jumping-off spot to criss-cross the country on a full U.S. tour entitled “The Mothership Tour 2014.”
Skrillex: Eight Wild Nights and Busy Days With the Superstar
After playing Winter Music Conference, Ultra Music Festival and Coachella, the Grammy-winning DJ will start his tour proper at Oklahoma City’s Zoo Amphitheatre on May 23rd before ending the tour with two June performances at Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre and a July set in Portland, Maine. Sydney duo What So Not and Los Angeles duo Milo & Otis will join Skrillex on all dates, with Dillon Francis and DJ Snake alternating as openers. The DJ revealed that the Denver shows will feature an expanded line-up, but has not announced any additional names yet.
The tour corresponds with an app that the producer released last Friday for Apple and Droid entitled “Alien Ride.” The app contains a folder with 11 hidden objects and a countdown ending Monday, March 10th at 6:30 p.m. EST.
When we caught up with Skrillex at HARD Day of the Dead Festival last November, the DJ premiered six new songs, but remained cryptic for his 2014 plans. “It’s definitely been a busy year for me,” Skrillex told Rolling Stone. “It’s been off-tour, but I’ve been hustling and getting ready, too. I’m gonna go it at hard next year. ’14 is gonna be super exciting, I’m gonna be out there and doing some new shit.”
The DJ also participated in a Reddit AMA over the weekend, discussing his prank war with Deadmau5, getting his own Disney character and the differences between crowds in different countries.
To accompany the announcement, Skrillex released a behind-the-scenes tour vid detailing the preparation of the Mothership Tour.
