See Veruca Salt Watch Each Other in ‘Eyes on You’ Video
Veruca Salt have released the meta, reflective video for their new single “Eyes on You.” The track appears on Ghost Notes, the band’s first album that features the original line-up since 1997’s Eight Arms to Hold You.
In the clip, the members of the band are sequestered into different rooms of a house and watching each other on staticky television sets. The shots also switch to images of two girls — who may be singers and guitarists Nina Gordon and Louise Post — frolicking in the grass until one pulls out a switchblade. At one point, Post is reading a book titled Nina within her room.
“We think of this song as a forensic study of the end of a friendship — searching for the exact moment where something went terribly wrong,” Gordon told Noisey. “We might have done a CSI-type video instead, or Quincy or something. But one thing we really wanted to get at was the isolation you can feel when analyzing a breakup, so we figured that maybe having us stuck there watching each other on TV screens for all eternity would do the trick.”
