Los Angeles duo announces a debut LP due January 20th on Atlantic

When Jarrod Gorbel and Blake Sennett met in 2010, the former was best known as the lead singer for Brooklyn indie band the Honorary Title and the latter as the lead guitarist for Rilo Kiley. Two years later, they joined up as Night Terrors of 1927, and now, they’re ready to release their debut LP, Everything’s Coming Up Roses, due January 20th on Atlantic.

Above, watch the video for lead single “When You Were Mine,” a synth-rock jam about working through a breakup. While a girl dances around her apartment, presumably about to move out, Gorbel and Sennett croon with Tegan and Sara, who are featured on the track. Like “Shine,” “Always Be One” and “Always Take You Back,” it originally appeared on September’s Anything to Anyone EP.

“When first written, the song was inspired by one specific relationship,” the band tells Rolling Stone in a joint statement. “As it evolved, it became less personal and more universal, a snapshot of those relationships that burn intensely at the outset but are ultimately doomed. The flickering of the characters in the video helped symbolize the pattern we repeat in our desperate search to feel whole or to find love.”
