See Miguel, Travis Scott Sing From the Rooftops in ‘Waves’ Remix Video
Miguel and Travis Scott throw the wildest, weirdest motel party in the new video for a remix of “Waves,” off the R&B singer’s 2015 LP, Wildheart.
The video opens with a strange, low-budget, cultish feel and finds Miguel standing in front of a starry background speaking about pain, fear and inevitable death as a catalyst to live. Though peculiar, the introduction turns out to be fitting as Miguel, Scott and their backing band set up on the roof of the “Wildheart Motel” to perform for a horde of screaming fans below.
The warped, Nineties production values, interspersed with psychedelic effects, give the “Waves” clip an added grit, while the remix swaps the original’s soulful underpinnings for a riotous, hard-hitting trap feel.
Miguel released Wildheart last summer and shared a video for the original version of “Waves” in October. Since the album’s release, Miguel has made appearances on tracks by A$AP Rocky and Mac Miller. He also recently paid tribute to David Bowie at an intimate show in Los Angeles show where he performed an acoustic rendition of “Space Oddity,” which transitioned into “Waves.”
