See Melvins’ Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover as Animated Characters in ‘Uncle Grandpa’

Sludge gods help rescue rock & roll in cartoon series

Melvins may have formed more than three decades ago, but the band is still interested in exploring new territory: on August 4th, Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover will appear as animated characters for the first time in the Cartoon Network series Uncle Grandpa.

In the episode, Lizzy’s band leaves her right before a planned talent show performance, but Uncle Grandpa saves the day by enlisting “the best musicians who’ve ever lived” — Osborne and Crover. “Great to be here in a cartoon,” Osborne announces when he appears in the exclusive Rolling Stone clip.

“I LOVED seeing myself animated,” he tells Rolling Stone. “It’s the most reality I’ve had in a long time. These guys were so nice to us! They even allowed Dale and I to do the voiceovers sans pants!”

“I always wanted to be in animation and do cartoon voices, so this is a dream come true for me,” Croveradds. “We look hilarious as cartoon characters and fit right in with Uncle Grandpa and his gang!”

The full episode airs on Thursday, August 4th at 7:30pm.
