See Mac Miller, Anderson Paak Perform Joyous Song ‘Dang!’
Mac Miller‘s The Divine Feminine dropped today, almost exactly a year after the rapper released his last album, GO:OD AM. To celebrate, Miller and Anderson .Paak performed the record’s lead single, a tale of romantic frustration (aptly titled “Dang!”), on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“Dang!” is one of several songs on Miller’s new album that shows the rapper embracing soft grooves. He performed the track with help from Colbert’s house band, Jon Batiste and Stay Human. The group provided a mellow bed of keyboards, stealthy horns and supportive backing vocals, while Miller rapped about a complicated relationship: “Can’t concentrate, you’re always on my brain/ If it’s love then why the hell it come with pain?”
.Paak is one of several guests that makes an appearance on The Divine Feminine — Miller also enlisted Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande. In an interview with Beats 1’s Zane Low, Miller described the album as “a concept … about just the energy of the world being a female energy.”
