See Justice Throw Surprise Rave in Fan-Filmed ‘Alakazam!’ Video
French dance duo Justice previewed tracks from their new LP Woman during a string of unannounced pop-up DJ gigs throughout Europe. Fan-filmed footage from Justice’s September 16th show at London’s Mangle is the backbone of the duo’s new video for “Alakazam!”
Inspired by the mystical definition of the word “Alakazam” – “Used as an invocation of magical power or to indicate an instantaneous appearance,” the band noted – the video captures the impromptu feel of Justice’s secret gigs, which included stops at Berlin’s Chalet Club, Paris’ Elysee Montmartre and Stockholm’s Under Bron.
At the onset of the video, Justice thank the dozens of amateur videographers who filmed the room-shaking, fist-pumping, neon-coated energy of a Justice set.
Justice previously stoked anticipation for the arrival of Woman, due out November 18th, with singles “Randy” and “Safe and Sound.” Woman is the duo’s first album since 2011’s Audio, Video, Disco.
“We have [been] mistaken for a dance music band,” Justice’s Xavier de Rosnay previously said of the band’s new LP. “Every time we start with a couple of ideas and as we make the record, they change a lot and they drift a bit, but the general mood we were in was to make a welcoming record.”
