See It First: Terry McDermott Steps It Up With “Hi Steppin”
“The Voice” Season 6 premieres this week on NBC. But let’s go back in time, not long ago, to arguably the best installment of the series, Season 3, which was largely dominated by the large lungs of rockin’ Scotsman Terry McDermott, who made it all the way to the finale.

Post-“Voice,” Terry has kept on rockin’ with his band the Bonfires, via the epic power ballads “Pictures” and “Lose This Feeling.” But with his propulsive new single “Hi Steppin” (co-written with Bonfires member and current Afghan Whigs touring guitarist Dave Rosser), he’s really upped the ante. “Hi Steppin” is most definitely not a ballad — it’s a driving, sexy, fast ‘n’ furious rock assault that sounds unlike anything Terry has released before, but is still sure to please his faithful fanbase, the McHobbits.
