See Emeli Sande’s Verdant ‘Garden’ Video With Jay Electronica
Scottish soul singer Emeli Sandé has dropped her dreamy video for “Garden,” a track off her just-released new LP Long Live the Angels.
The minimal video, like the song itself, features appearances by rapper Jay Electronica and poet Áine Zion, with the three artists delivering the track in a misty, verdant park.
“‘Garden’ is one of my favorite songs from the album,” Sandé said of the track in a statement. “It is an expression of freedom and passion, two important parts of life, which I hadn’t really explored until a few years ago. It was a great honor to work with the genius Jay Electronica and I’m very excited to introduce a very special talent, Áine Zion.”
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Sandé talked about how gospel music inspired Long Live the Angels, the long-awaited follow-up to 2012’s Our Version of Events.
“I just love gospel,” Sandé said. “That’s one of the first genres of music I started to listen to as a kid. It’s something I really identified with being up in Scotland and feeling like I didn’t really fit in.”
