See Dwayne Johnson, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Satirical ‘Millennials: The Musical’

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Lin-Manuel Miranda skewer millennial culture with the satirical musical short Millennials: The Musical. The pair previewed their collaboration with a mockumentary.

After an introduction from Johnson and Miranda, the stage is set for the story of Crystal, a Brooklyn dweller preparing for her Bumble date until she tragically loses her phone. Then, her neighbor Jack stops by and Crystal is astonished by how disconnected he is (using a flip phone). After a long adventure, they learn to embrace each other’s lifestyles, with Jack beginning to appreciate memes and Crystal enjoying what it means to be disconnected.

Johnson stars in the new Disney Pixar film Moana, which is in theaters now. Miranda contributed new, original music to the film’s soundtrack.
