Chance the Rapper had a lively debut on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, bringing fellow rappers Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz to perform with him. The trio rapped Chance’s Coloring Book track “No Problem.”
The performance opened on a group of pencil-pushing officer workers reviewing paperwork at a label named “Generic Records.” Chance burst through the door with a crew of dancers and jumped on the table, scattering papers while a live band played. 2 Chainz delivered his lines unflinchingly while Lil Wayne started off with more reserve. At the end of his verse, Wayne changed some of his lyrics to include a reference to his own label troubles and the swimmer Ryan Lochte.
During a subsequent interview with Ellen, Chance discussed meeting President Obama as a teenager and attending the President’s recent birthday party at the White House. He also took a moment to thank his guests, whom he described as “two of my biggest role models.” “Wayne came through for me today, and he’s so strong — shout out to them,” Chance added. “I’m really shaking; that was just crazy.”
