Sara Bareilles, Rebel Wilson to Star in ‘Little Mermaid’ Live
Sara Bareilles will transform into Ariel for a live concert featuring songs from the Disney classic The Little Mermaid. The star-studded show will take place at the Hollywood Bowl on June 4th.
Rebel Wilson will join Bareilles as the evil Ursula while Glee‘s Darren Criss will play Prince Eric. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt‘s breakout star Tituss Burgess will serve as the cast’s Sebastian while John Stamos and Scandal‘s Norm Lewis will portray Chef Louis and King Triton respectively. Along with the concert, the venue will host several family-friendly activities, including fireworks and a costume contest.
“I suppose this is the part where I say, ‘Dreams do come true,'” Bareilles said in a statement. The singer recently performed “Part of Your World” at a production of the musical Waitress — for which she wrote the music and lyrics — after technical difficulties caused a delay at the show. “I am truly honored and excited beyond words to be a part of a performance of one of my favorite scores and stories of all time. I’ve been pretending I was Ariel in swimming pools since I was a little girl, and now I get to pretend on a bigger stage. This is just fantastic.”

Rebel Wilson also views herself as a Little Mermaid “fan-girl” and revealed in a statement that it’s one of her favorite movies. “I hope to do the amazing Pat Carroll [the original animated singing voice] proud by performing Ursula’s song,” she said. “It’s just such a delicious role that I’ve always wanted to play.”
Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday, April 9th.
