Rolling Stones Prep Release of Historic Cuba Show
The Rolling Stones will release their historic concert in Cuba as Havana Moon on November 11th.
Director Paul Dugdale’s film previously screened in theaters for one night only in September and now a short trailer for Havana Moon is available to watch. The 30-second clip features snippets of the band performing “Jumpin Jack Flash,” “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll” and “Satisfaction” interspersed with shots of the jubilant crowd.
Along with Havana Moon, Dugdale documented the Stones’ tour through Central and South America, which culminated in Cuba in The Rolling Stones Olé Olé Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America. The movie premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and partly features a behind-the-scenes look at the Stones team organizing the free Havana gig.
The Rolling Stones made their debut in Cuba in March, performing for an estimated 500,000 people. “This was no ordinary concert,” Rolling Stone wrote in its review. “People hugged and shared looks of disbelief. Coming at the end of a run of shows in South America and Mexico, last night might have marked at least a temporary pause for the legendary group, but it had all the markings of a new chapter for music in Cuba.”
Havana Moon will be available in several formats, though every package will include a recording of the gig and the concert film. A two CD set will be available with either a DVD or a Blu-Ray of the movie, while the three LP vinyl set will come with the DVD recording. A special deluxe edition is also in the works.
