LeAnn Rimes has entered the studio to begin the tentatively titled “Twisted Angel” with producer Desmond Child (Ricky Martin, Bon Jovi). The album is due in spring on Curb Records.
“I think it’s going to be a little different from what people have heard from me before,” Rimes says of the record. “Working with Desmond has been wonderful. He’s so very creative.”
Rimes wrote much of the new material herself, making a conscious decision not to be too influenced by what is on the charts. “I really don’t look at what’s out there,” she says. “I kind of go from what I come up with and what’s within me, and that’s why I think the new music is something people haven’t heard before. I’m kind of coming up with my own sounds.”
The sessions follow a legal battle with Curb, which last year released the album I Need You against Rimes’ wishes. This year, Rimes dropped the suit she filed against the label and the parties agreed on a new deal. Happy to be done with the litigation, Rimes says, “I’m really concentrating on the music.”
