Rihanna proclaims a love of whips and chains in her new single “S&M” and the video follows through with a visual onslaught of candy-colored kinkiness. The clip doesn’t get too explicit, but bondage imagery abounds and the singer struts around in a dominatrix outfit while brandishing a whip. Despite all that, the video mainly stands out for the way it just keeps hitting you with painfully bright colors and obnoxious antics — until you start to like it.
