Reznor’s How to Destroy Angels Unveil New Teaser Videos

How to Destroy Angels, the new collaboration reportedly between Nine Inch NailsTrent Reznor and his wife, former West Indian Girl singer Mariqueen Maandig, unveiled two more short music videos on their official website, giving fans a preview of what to expect when the project’s self-titled EP drops this summer. Last week, the band posted a clip of a pair of hands playing a Swarmatron, and this weekend two more short studio snippets arrived: a bass-driven tune accompanied by the sound of swarming synths and an atmospheric, shoegaze-influenced track that’s reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails’ instrumental Ghosts I-IV.

The new clips also reveal the identity of another member of the group: musician Atticus Ross, who has served as co-producer on Nine Inch Nails’ past three albums (Year Zero, Ghosts I-IV and The Slip) and is a frequent Reznor collaborator, is seen playing the bass.

As Rolling Stone previously reported, How to Destroy Angels have promised to release a six-song self-titled EP at some point this summer. The project borrows its name from experimental electronic band Coil’s debut 12″ single “How to Destroy Angels.” Reznor has long professed to have been influenced by Coil and in the past has collaborated with Coil/Throbbing Gristle member Peter Christopherson, who appears on “How to Destroy Angels.” No word yet on whether Christopherson is also involved in the HTDA project.

How to Destroy Angels have also recently activated their Twitter account and started posting photos. As for Reznor’s rarely used Twitter, the Nine Inch Nails frontman tweeted last week not to confirm his involvement in HTDA but to alert fans, “The new Crystal Castles record is excellent.”
