Relive Rolling Stones’ Historic Cuba Visit With Live Footage

British rockers reportedly played to 1.2 million fans at free show

The Rolling Stones played a historic free show in Havana, Cuba on Friday night at the city’s Cuidad Deportiva. A clip of the band’s experience in the country was unveiled Monday by JA Digital, who also filmed the packed concert in full.

“Cuba has… so many kinds of music, all of it brilliant,” Mick Jagger says over scenic shots of Havana. “It was inevitable that we would play here one day.” After showcasing the gorgeous city, the video displays a couple highlights from the show where the band delivered classics like “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll (But I Like It)” to a crowd of 700,000 fans in the stadium, and 500,000 more listening outside.

After years of rock music being banned in the country, regulations have eased and more acts have been making plans to perform in the country. In early March, Major Lazer became the first major U.S. act to perform in Cuba since the country began restoring diplomatic ties with America. Just a week before the Stones played, President Barack Obama visited Cuba with his family.
