Quiet Life Speed Away From Heartbreak in ‘Record Time’ – Premiere

Broken clocks and broken hearts are just a few of the arresting images in Quiet Life’s charming new video for “Record Time.” Taken from the Portland group’s new album, Wild Pack – which hits stores today – the single’s clip was directed by Ben Fee, who worked on the Lumineers’ “Ho Hey.”

“I wrote ‘Record Time’ right before we left Portland to drive a couple thousand miles across the country to join Dr. Dog on tour in Cleveland,” frontman Sean Spellman tells Rolling Stone. “I didn’t know if I’d ever come back to Portland or if I even had anything to come back to, and I still don’t. That’s where the line ‘I’m gonna drive out to Ohio / I’m gonna free my troubled mind’ comes from. The song is about a particular woman, but I don’t want to talk about that.”

The roots-rock quintet – which is helmed by Spellman and his co-songwriter brother Ryan –  has also toured with Alabama Shakes and are currently on the road with the Head and the Heart, navigating its veggie oil-powered van across the country.
