Pulp Record New Song with LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy

Ten years ago, the Britpop icons Pulp wrote a track called “After You,” a demo that was never officially finished or recorded – until this past November, that is, when the band laid down the track. They eventually finished it with some help from LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy during their recent stint on the S.S. Coachella.

A seductive dance-floor number with a incessant bass groove and suitably breathy vocals from Jarvis Cocker, “After You” (which you can check out below, via Consequence of Sound) was released on Christmas as a surprise gift to fans. At the band’s recent homecoming show at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England – topping off a year-long reunion tour– the band handed out cards to fans with a link to download the song, which was activated at midnight on Christmas Eve.
