Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin Arrested for Drug Possession

Puddle of Mudd singer Wes Scantlin was arrested last week in Beverly Hills, California after a routine traffic stop turned up a controlled substance in Scantlin’s vehicle. Scantlin was initially pulled over for expired registration tags, but police soon discovered that there was a warrant out for the singer’s arrest, TMZ reports. While searching Scantlin’s vehicle, police discovered an unspecified controlled substance; he was then charged with misdemeanor drug charges and booked into jail, where he was bailed out hours later for $51,000.
A representative for Scantlin did not immediately return Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.
It’s been a tumultuous year for the Puddle of Mudd singer as Scantlin has chalked up multiple arrests in multiple states. His troubles began in January, when Scantlin was briefly taken into custody after he took a joyride on the Denver Airport baggage carousal; the excursion transported the singer into a restricted area of the airport, resulting in his arrest. Puddle of Mudd’s concert in Denver that night was salvaged only after a fan bailed Scantlin out.
In July, Scantlin led Minnesota police on a high-speed car chase that topped 100 miles per hour. When the chase finally ended and Scantlin was apprehended, a breathalyzer test determined that the singer’s blood alcohol level was .310, nearly four times Minnesota state’s legal limit. Scantlin was charged with DUI and fleeing police officers for that incident.
A month later, Scantlin was again arrested for driving under the influence as well as marijuana possession, this time in South Dakota, where the singer again needed to be bailed out prior to Puddle of Mudd’s concert. In previous years, Scantlin has also been arrested for causing a disturbance aboard an airplane, destroying his neighbor’s porch with a buzzsaw as well as pleaded guilty to felony cocaine possession.
