Prince’s Baltimore Rally 4 Peace Concert Will Stream Free on Tidal

Jay Z’s streaming service will provide “pre-paywall” audio of the gig plus offer matching donations to local youth charities

Prince performs in Louisville, Kentucky on March 14th, 2015.

Jay Z‘s music streaming service Tidal will provide free live audio of Prince‘s Rally 4 Peace event at Baltimore’s Royal Farms Arena this Sunday. Along with their 60-minute stream of Prince’s show, Tidal have also promised to “match funds” of all donations made through their official site to support Baltimore youth charities. Prince previously announced that the surprise Baltimore show was an effort to heal the community following the death of Freddie Gray in police custody and its ensuing riots.

“I am honored to join Prince in his mission to inspire through the uniting power of music and be able to offer a platform where this moment can be shared globally. We invite all to experience the music and contribute in their own way to promote peace, tolerance and understanding,” Jay Z said in a statement. “Our prayers go out to Freddie Gray’s family and every family affected by brutality and senseless violence.”

The Prince performance will be offered “pre-paywall,” meaning users won’t have to subscribe to the streaming service to hear the 60-minute concert. In addition to Tidal’s donation matching, the high quality audio streaming service is also supporting the Baltimore Justice Fund, which aims to end racial discrimination, create schools, reduce drug addiction and eliminate police brutality. Prince, who asked fans to wear gray for the show, stated that proceeds from his Baltimore concert would benefit local youth charities.

Prince’s Baltimore gig is the latest exclusive show to make its way to Tidal since the service relaunched with Jay Z at the helm. In late April, Jack White’s final, intimate acoustic show premiered on the service, and Jay Z announced plans to perform deep cuts and B-sides at two shows (May 15th and 16th) in New York for Tidal subscribers.
