Pixies Promise New Music on North American Tour

Last April, Pixies released Indie Cindy, their first new album in 23 years. They also toured the world with their new touring bassist, Paz Lenchantin, following the departure of founding member Kim Deal (and subsequent replacement Kim Shattuck). Now, the influential alt-rock band – frontman Black Francis, guitarist Joey Santiago and drummer David Lovering – have announced another series of North American tour dates (once again featuring Lenchantin), kicking off May 5th in New Orleans and running throughout the month.
According to the band’s official website, the jaunt will feature tracks spanning their discography, in addition to “some brand new Pixies songs, written and arranged just in the past few months.”
The trek will feature festival dates at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees (May 8th), Boston Calling (May 24th) and the Amnesia Festival in Montebello, Quebec (June 18th – 21st). A special fan-only pre-sale will begin February 25th at 9 a.m. EST via the band’s website, using the password “snakes.” General on-sale tickets will go on sale Friday, February 27th. More dates are expected to be announced.
Pixies had a busy 2014. In addition to recording and touring behind Indie Cindy, their fifth LP, the band also released Doolittle 25, a three-disc anniversary reissue of their 1989 breakthrough album.
