Pitbull Previews New Year’s Eve TV Special: ‘We’re Making History’

This New Year’s Eve, Pitbull will host his first-ever end-of-year TV special on Fox, broadcasting live from his hometown of Miami. “We’re taking it from the Big Apple to the Pineapple,” he tells Rolling Stone. “And what happens in Miami never happens!”
The dapper MC says his resolution for 2015 is to “make history.” “We’re starting the year by making history,” he explains. “We’re bringing New Year’s Eve down to Miami and giving New York a run for its money. Dick Clark created such an amazing platform – that’s someone that I’ve idolized, and someone that we will never outdo, but it’s an honor to be able to compete with him. That in itself is making history.”
Pitbull says celebrating New Year’s in Florida has some distinct advantages. “First of all, you’re not freezing, so you don’t have to fall out in order to put your hands up and dance,” he says. “It’s definitely a different vibe.”
Adds Pit, “I’m very excited. What’s better than ringing in the new year on a positive note? Instead of the ball drop, we’ll have the ball going up. Everyone in the world will be partying, enjoying, losing their mind and escaping from all the negativity and problems in the world right now, for at least three-and-a-half hours.”
Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution will air from 8 to 10 p.m. and (after the local news) 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Guests include Enrique Iglesias, Fall Out Boy, the Band Perry, Fifth Harmony and Becky G. The host will take viewers into 2015 with his own midnight set.
