Earlier this summer, the oft-estranged Waters and Gilmour shocked fans by performing four songs together at a benefit concert in England, and next time Mason hopes to take part in the reunion. “I think all of us would like the idea of repeating the Live 8 concept,”
Mason’s comments echo those of Waters, who recently told Rolling Stone , “David and Nick and I might do a one-off somewhere, but there’s no way we’re going to do a tour — like a Live 8, but probably just with us. It’s such a shame that we didn’t get around to it before Rick [Wright] died.”
While fans await a charity gig with the remaining members of Pink Floyd, Gilmour has promised to make a surprise appearance on “Comfortably Numb” at some point during Waters’ current The Wall tour. However, Waters ruled out recording any new music with his former bandmates, a point that Mason agreed upon. “I think it would be a very nice way for a band to gently move towards retirement, by doing shows absolutely for charity rather than for more income,” Mason said.
