Despite taking a hiatus from recording and touring, the members of Phish still have an array of releases to keep fans sated.
In addition to The Sisket Disc, a collection of pieces recorded during the sessions for The Story of the Ghost released last week by Elektra (the album had previously only been available for sale online), guitarist Trey Anastasio is offering Trampled by Lambs and Pecked by the Dove. Trampled collects twenty-five basic tracks recorded by Anastasio and frequent collaborator Tom Marshall in 1997. The sessions, which ran nine days, produced ten songs that were ultimately featured on Ghost as well as this year’s Farmhouse. According to www.phish.com, the album contains a handful of songs that have made appearances at Phish shows, as well as several that have not made their way into the mental catalogs of Phishheads.
In other Phish news, bassist Mike Gordon’s film Outside Out will soon be available for fans to purchase. The film won an Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival earlier this year and also appeared at the Nashville Independent Film Festival. Described by the band’s site as “part experimental narrative, part mock-infomercial,” Outside Out features cult musician Col. Bruce Hampton in the starring role as a guitar teacher. The score was written by Gordon and performed by the bassist with Phish drummer Jon Fishman. The film can be ordered through phish.com in the “Dry Goods” section.
