Peter Bjorn and John Announce New LP ‘Breakin’ Point’

Peter Bjorn and John will end fans’ five-year wait for a new album on June 10th with the arrival of Breakin’ Point, the Swedish indie rock trio’s first album since 2011’s Gimme Some. The band also unveiled the album’s first single “What You Talking About?,” an infectious slice of synth-heavy indie pop. The track is available to download now on all digital music services.
For Breakin’ Point, the “Young Folks” crew sought the help of outside collaborators for the first time, recruiting an all-star team of producers that includes Paul Epworth, Greg Kurstin, Patrick Berger, Emile Haynie and more.
“You behave better when you have people over for dinner that aren’t just your family,” the trio’s Björn Yttling joked in a statement about the band’s decision to work with outside producers. “It wasn’t that we just brought in anyone. We really respect what these guys do. We wanted to make pop music that was relevant now and not in a fantasy world of what we thought would be relevant. We learned how to not dwell on stuff because you can’t sit forever. You have to reach a goal. That was a little bit scary at first.”
In 2015, the Swedish trio shook out of their hiatus with a new song called “High Up (Take Me to the Top),” off their imprint INGRID’s Record Store Day compilation.
Peter Bjorn and John will hit North American venues in support of their new album this May.
