Pete Townshend on Roger Daltrey: “We Are Not Buddies”

Pete Townshend is cheesed off at his Who bandmate Roger Daltrey, and Townshend is going on at length about it on his website. The point of contention: The Who have been offering live webcasts of their European tour dates at for $10 a pop, with all proceeds going to charity. But Daltrey has apparently had some concerns about the project, so now they’re going to stop — and Townshend is annoyed.

He writes: “Roger seems to think when I provide bandwidth for the Who website, and for Live streaming, he is being exploited in some way and wants a piece of the future — profit’ Don’t think there is much chance of profit when it is all aimed at charity.”

Townshend has even set up a hotmail account for fans to e-mail Roger to convince him to change his mind. Pete gets more personal in a later post: “Roger is my partner in the Who,” he writes, “He is not my partner in anything else. We love each other but we are not regular social buddies like Bono and Edge, we do not discuss or share ideas, and we have no unified joint vision or strategy for the Who or for creative projects in general.” Read all about the feud in mind numbing detail here, here and here.
