Pearl Jam, Florence Sing Eagles of Death Metal for Charity

Kings of Leon, My Morning Jacket, Florence and the Machine with the Maccabees, Imagine Dragons and Jimmy Eat World are among the first wave of artists to answer Josh Homme’s call and contribute a cover of Eagles of Death Metal’s “I Love You All the Time” to the band’s Play It Forward EODM Campaign.
“I made a plea to artists and business people alike to come together to use our solidarity as proof that we are stronger together, and that we can make a difference,” Homme said in a statement. “We are proud to be a little part of such a big group of talent and good will. We can’t thank these artists enough for their donations of talent, love, time and compassion. Now, the Play It Forward Campaign is in the hands of the fans to help us make a difference, and to help those affected by this tragedy. Please listen, purchase, play and enjoy – and know that every time you do, you’re doing the sweet stuff that makes that difference.”
All publishing royalties and proceeds from the covers, which can be streamed and purchased through the Play It Forward site, will go towards the Sweet Stuff Foundation‘s efforts to aid the family members of those killed in the November 13th terror attack at Paris’ Bataclan.
In addition to the artists covering “I Love You All the Time,” Pearl Jam will also offer up their live version of Eagles of Death Metal’s “I Want You So Hard” – which the band performed during their recent South American tour – as a digital download bundle and vinyl version through the official Pearl Jam site. The track will be backed by Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron’s solo take on “I Love You All the Time.”
“After reading Josh Homme’s email encouraging fellow musicians to cover EODM’s ‘I Love You All the Time,’ I was very inspired to act quickly,” Cameron said in a statement. “So I recorded a version on a night off from tour in Mexico City in my hotel room, on November 27th, 2015, from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. I am honored to be a part of this movement of unity and support. We’ll never stop.”
The Dean Ween Band were among the first to cover the Zipper Down track, and their version of “I Love You All the Time” will be offered up alongside renditions by Savages, Queens of the Stone Age collaborator Alain Johannes, Ed Harcourt, the New Pacific, Mini Mansions, rooms and Sinner Sinners. Additional cover versions of the track are forthcoming and will be posted to the Play It Forward site as they’re confirmed.
On Wednesday, Eagles of Death Metal announced their rescheduled European tour dates, including a February 16th return to Paris. The band also recently performed during the encore of U2’s triumphant Paris concert.
